Expires:No;;871282 FXUS63 KICT 061659 AFDICT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wichita KS 1159 AM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Frost/freeze possible tonight-early Monday with some frost potential possibly lingering into Mon night/early Tue. - Mild and dry through the remainder of the forecast. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 221 AM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Very dry sub-cloud layer air has allowed the light precipitation to sublimate with only a sprinkle or flurry possible early this morning across parts of southeast KS before clouds begin to clear from west to east as we move through the day. The dense mid clouds have also acted like a blanket keeping minimum temperatures above forecast values over much of the area but as clouds thin early this morning, we could still see a few locations in central KS fall below freezing. Better chances for sub-freezing air may arrive tomorrow night and a freeze watch was issued. For tomorrow night, sfc high pressure will settle south across into the Southern Plains which should result in much better radiational cooling. There is some concern that moist soils and evapotranspiration may keep temperatures from plummeting in some locations but better probabilities for a freeze are anticipated. Quite weather is expected to prevail through much if not all of the upcoming week with moderating temperatures anticipated. A shortwave trough passing over the Northern Plains on Wed will drive a frontal boundary southward over the area ushering in some slightly cooler air on Thu before the mid/upper ridge builds over the area bringing rising temperatures late in the week and into the upcoming weekend. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z MONDAY/...
