...River Statement For The Tallapoosa River...

.Heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours is producing rises on the
Tallapoosa River near Milstead. However, levels are expected to
remain below established flood stages, and any overflow along the
river should be of minor nature.


The Tallapoosa River at Milstead.
* At 9:30 AM CDT Monday the stage was 23.8 feet.
* Action stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 40.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to 32.5 feet tomorrow morning. It
  will then fall to 14.8 feet early Friday afternoon. It will rise to
  15.2 feet early Saturday morning. It will then fall again and
  remain below flood stage.
* Impact...At 25.0 feet...Considerable low land flooding occurs.
  Livestock should be moved to higher ground.


Another statement will be issued by Tuesday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
