SUBJECT:  Fisheries Message

Please broadcast the message below beginning today (3/18) as soon as
possible, at approximately 30-minute intervals through Thursday,
March 20, 2025.  

The National Marine Fisheries Service announces
that the commercial harvest of king mackerel using run around
gillnet gear in the Gulf migratory group southern zone is closed
starting at 12 noon on March 20, 2025. This closure is effective
until the start of the next fishing season for gillnet gear on
January 20, 2026. During the closure, run around gillnets cannot be
used in a directed fishery for king mackerel anywhere in Federal
waters and gillnets cannot be possessed on a vessel in the closed
area with a stretched mesh of four and three quarter inches or
