.LONG TERM (After 12Z Tuesday)...Behind the exiting storm system,
the broad ridge centered over the Pacific is expected to build over
the area. Lingering shortwave energy moving over the top of the
ridge will keep some clouds over northern Utah and perhaps generate
a few showers over the higher terrain late Tuesday into early
Wednesday.

The ridge axis will make its way east during the middle to latter
part of the upcoming workweek, with the axis moving overhead by late
Thursday. This will result in dry conditions across Utah and
southwest Wyoming with increasingly mild conditions over the higher
terrain. Meanwhile, inversions will strengthen in valley locations,
keeping temperatures on the cool side and causing increasing haze.

By late Friday/early Saturday, GFS moves the ridge axis east of the
area while the EC flattens the ridge. GFS then moves a Pacific
trough through that could mix out inversions, while the EC indicates
a much weaker system that would only weaken the inversions somewhat.
With this in mind, confidence is relatively low in the forecast
details for day seven and beyond.

.AVIATION...The SLC terminal will see VFR conditions through the
morning with decreasing high clouds. Northwest winds are expected to
shift to the southeast by 12Z before returning to the northwest
between 17Z and 19Z. There is a 30 percent chance that the morning
northwest winds will hang on longer than anticipated.
