A strong low pressure system south of the Aleutians is pushing a front northward into Southwest Alaska this morning. Early observations have reported an initial push of snow, transitioning to freezing rain over areas of the Alaska Peninsula, then to plain rain. Focus areas for freezing rain potential remain for Bristol Bay early this morning, and areas of the Kuskokwim Delta and Lower Kuskokwim Valley early this afternoon. Periods of freezing rain are expected to be brief as this front is injecting warmer air into the region quickly. Temperatures are expected to warm above freezing by late Sunday afternoon and allow precipitation to change to all rain. $$
