COUNTIES THROUGH 600 PM CDT...

At 508 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms near Barkley Regional Airport, or near Metropolis,
moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 
         possible. Heavy rain may cause localized flooding.

Locations impacted include...
Paducah, Metropolis, La Center, Bardwell, Reidland, Lone Oak,
Brookport, Barlow, Karnak, Barkley Regional Airport, West Paducah,
Lovelaceville, New Columbia, Kevil, Joppa, New Grand Chain, Lowes,
Blandville, and Symsonia.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 24 in Kentucky between Mile Markers 1 and 17.
 Interstate 24 in Illinois between Mile Markers 24 and 38.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
